Last Friday 4 March, Eiffage Energía received the Ibermutuamur diploma, Mutua de Accidentes de Trabajo y Enfermedades Profesionales de la Seguridad Social nº 274 (Social Security Mutual Insurance for Work Accidents and Occupational Illnesses No. 274) in recognition of its low number of workplace accidents.
This type of recognition is awarded to companies that have a lower level of workplace accidents than all the other companies in the sector, thanks to their implementation and planning for occupational hazards. This means a social benefit for them as they have a workforce with less workplace injuries.
The awards ceremony took place in the auditorium of the Ibermutuamur Hospital of Murcia. The award winners received a diploma from the Managing Director of Ibermutuamur, Mr. Heraclio Corrales Romeo.
At Eiffage Energía we are very proud to see how, in recent years, as a result of efforts made in the implementation of occupational hazard prevention, the number of workplace accidents has fallen by more than 80% in our company.
From these data it is clear that the Frequency Index, which is the number of work accidents registered that occur in every million hours worked, has fallen almost 87% since 2010. And the Severity Index, which expresses the number of working days lost per thousand hours of exposure to occupational hazard, has decreased by approximately 84% since the same year.
These data, which should be highlighted, are due to the Joint Prevention Service, which was launched in 2009 by both Eiffage Energía and its subsidiaries Inelbo and Ambitec and later, in 2015, by the subsidiary Conscytec. This service is implemented by 25 technicians in occupational hazard prevention, specialised in all areas of the company’s work: Electrical Infrastructures, Renewable Energy, Maintenance, Installations, Civil Engineering and Construction.
Another of the initiatives that the company management launched in 2016 to promote this “good practice” was an information campaign which is amended every month, depending on the accidents recorded, and that includes monitoring the accident rate of the company. Also making the employees take part in this task through the slogan “Set up Safe Working Conditions”.
These are measures put forward by the company which are giving results, something of which we are very proud.
