José Manuel Martínez, CEO of Eiffage Energía explains in the blog Ecológica of El Diario.es how renewable energies are already a fact in Spain. Renewable energies are a key aspect in the various lines of activity of the company. A line where Eiffage Energía outlines a process based on EPC to provide the best service to all customers.
Renewable energies are considered clean energies since they involve commitment against climate change and respect for the environment. Currently, Eiffage Energía is a leader in the implementation of wind power and photovoltaic power projects and continues to work so that each one of the wind and photovoltaic projects meets their aims and purposes.
Since its internationalisation in 2008, the company develops projects both nationally and internationally. José Manuel Martínez considers that “at this moment, the investments in renewable energies are almost completely independent from public subsidy”. The transition towards maturity has been too fast and the process has not been carried out properly due to lack of time.
With regard to Latin America, where Eiffage Energía owns several of its headquarters and where it carries out numerous projects, it is of interest to highlight the difference in the market of renewable energies. On the American continent, most of the projects are performed with PPA (Power Purchase Agreement), i.e., the agreed prices for the purchase of energy without state intervention. The agreements are made between an electricity generator and a power purchaser. A “more balanced” system that is beginning to be implemented in Spain.
Returning to the Spanish market, Eiffage Energía trusts that it will be awarded some projects while the process of public auction of 8,000 megawatts closes. A commitment to continue to grow and strengthen its position in the renewable energies sector in Spanish territory.
