From 10 to 14 June the company is celebrating the Occupational Safety Week with various activities.
In the last eight years Eiffage Energía has reduced the number of accidents with sick leave per million hours worked by 90%, from 60 in 2010 to 6 in 2018, a figure that the company had set itself for the year 2020.
Safety is the top priority of the Eiffage Group’s Strategic Plan 2020 of the Energy Branch, which has a charter of commitment that represents a genuine guide of continuous improvements in prevention, which must be implemented by Company Management.
For the Eiffage Group, the first duty of a manager and a supervisor is to preserve the physical integrity and health of their employees. In this respect, from 10 to 14 June the company is celebrating the Safety Week, carrying out various awareness-raising activities aimed at achieving excellence on this matter.
Thus, in addition to placing information posters in all workplaces, an event will be held at national level on “Risk prevention in work preparation”, which will consist of a talk by the workers production managers: territorial directors, subsidiaries director, delegates, site managers, service managers and supervisors, transferring the company’s commitment with regard to Occupational Safety and the importance of the balance between action and risk when making decisions, since the origin of a large number of work accidents is due to over confidence produced by daily routines.
In order to motivate workers on the topic of safety, there will also be a challenge, which will consist of the development of two good practices relating to work preparation for each area and/or subsidiary. From all the practices presented, the best three will be sent to the Prevention Directorate of France, head offices of the Eiffage group, where after a new assessment; the best will be selected and included in the internal magazine “CONTACT”.
At local level, workshops or actions will be held on specific topics that each area has organised.
Finally, it should be noted that on Tuesday 11 June in Albacete and Wednesday 12 June in Madrid talks will be held, where the emergency measures of the Eiffage Energía Head Offices, the action protocol in the event of an accident, road safety, warming up exercises, etc. will be analysed.
Apart from these actions within the framework of the Safety Week, every week, since 2016, Eiffage Energía has internally informed all employees on the company’s follow-up and the evolution of the company’s accident rate: accidents with sick leave, accidents without sick leave, incidents and anomalies collected in the more than 5,000 safety inspections carried out annually.
With the aim of achieving an even greater reduction in the Frequency Index (the number of work accidents with sick leave registered per million hours worked), other measures will be implemented, such as each worker being subjected to a written risk assessment before starting the works.
Since 2012, the Eiffage Energía Group has had the OHSAS 18001: 2007 certification for the occupational risks prevention management system.
