The Huatacondo solar plant, “S4 Solar”, one of the most important solar projects in the country, developed by Eiffage Concessions and Eiffage Energía, has just been inaugurated in the middle of the Atacama Desert in Chile.
With an investment of 121 million dollars, the 103 MW Huatacondo photovoltaic plant has 365,000 solar panels on 150 hectares, equivalent to 180 football fields, and 72,000 foundations.
The plant is planned to yield 275,000 GWh of clean energy, which will supply more than 70,000 people, and will avoid the emission of 105,000 tons of CO2 per year.
During the construction of Huatacondo, more than 500 people have been employed, creating new jobs in the Tarapacá region, the area where it is located.
Back Chile up
Eiffage Energía is backing Chile up because of its capacity for growth in renewable energies in the coming years and its position as a benchmark country in Latin America. Since its first project in Chile, Eiffage Energía has strengthened its experience in this field with important projects such as the construction of the Photovoltaic Plant in Quilapilún (110 MW), the Javiera photovoltaic park (69 MW) or the Crucero solar photovoltaic plant (72 MW).
An experience with which Chile will continue to reinforce its task of reducing CO2 emissions and increasing the use of cleaner energies.
