Torrijos photovoltaic plant. The president of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, inaugurated the Torrijos photovoltaic plant, located in the municipality of Novés (Toledo). A plant built by Eiffage Energía for Elawan, with an installed capacity of 35.6 MWp. Eiffage Energía, with an EPC contract, will also be in charge of maintenance of this facility for the next 5 years. A period that may be extended up to 20 years. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the CEO of Eiffage Energía, José Manuel Martínez, and Eiffage Energía’s international director of Renewable Energies, Daniel Garrido.
Project characteristics
Torrijos photovoltaic plant. This project includes five transformer stations, a substation and a 3-km (45 kV) high voltage line. It also has about 104,000 photovoltaic panels over a surface area of some 55 hectares. The project includes nine power electronics investments and an evacuation power line from the plant to the Torrijos substation. This is why the facility was given the name Torrijos. The total length of the line is nearly three kilometres. The installation will avoid the emission of more than 29,000 tonnes of C02 into the atmosphere. During its construction, it provided direct employment to some 90 people, promoting local employment and reinvigorating the area.
Other projects in Castilla-La Mancha
Elawan, a long-standing client of Eiffage Energía, has just awarded the company a complex of five photovoltaic plants in Bonete, Albacete, with a total capacity of 250 MW. A project that also includes a substation and a high-voltage line. It occupies a surface area of about 600 hectares. The work will begin next July and is expected to last 12 months. It should also be noted that Eiffage Energía is developing two plants in the province of Cuenca for Iberdrola . These are the Olmedilla and Romeral photovoltaic plants, with an overall capacity of 100 MWp. Projects that will contribute to reactivating the local industrial fabric. During the peak work periods, each will employ up to 120 workers, mostly from the local area.
Photovoltaic plant in Almansa
Also in the province of Albacete, specifically in Almansa, Eiffage Energía was awarded the contract for construction and maintenance of another photovoltaic plant for the company X-Elio. A 50MW plant, covering a surface area of 134 hectares, which will prevent the emission of more than 29,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere, it will supply energy to some 30,000 homes.
Eiffage Energía, a leader in the construction of photovoltaic facilities
Eiffage Energía has extensive experience in solar projects. It is one of the leading companies in the construction of photovoltaic facilities in Spain and internationally. In 2019, Eiffage Energía installed a total of 1,012 MW of photovoltaic power through projects in Spain, Mexico, Chile and Jamaica. Of these, more than 750 MW were installed in Spain. It is one of the companies that has built the most facilities of this type in this country.
Renewable energies are one of the mainstays of the company, a sector in which we have been working for more than 20 years.
Eiffage Energía is responsible for around 80% of the Eiffage Group’s renewables activity worldwide. In wind energy, with more than 90 wind farms built and an installed capacity of more than 3 GW; and photovoltaic, with 65 solar plants and more than 2 GW of installed capacity. It prevents the emission of more than 10 million tonnes of CO2 per year into the atmosphere.
