Conscytec, the construction subsidiary of Eiffage Energía, is going to build a 21-unit residential building in Sabadell. A project for which it will use a new construction concept, with wood as the structural element. This is a social housing project awarded by Vimusa S.A., a public land and housing company of the municipality of Barcelona. A building with an open first floor, plus six residential floors and two basement floors for parking. Construction will begin next March, with an execution period of 16 months.
Industrialisation of the structure, CLT
Conscytec will construct this building using a CLT (cross-laminated timber) structure. It is a unique project that will be noteworthy for its sustainability, with an A+ rating, and its high level of sustainability, as a low-carbonsolution, using timber and eco-efficient materials. With this project, Conscytec positions itself at the forefront of a different way of building, in which industrialisation and sustainability are progressively gaining ground as main components. A milestone that represents a radical change and improves project management: by cutting execution times, considerably reducing the volume of waste, and increasing health and safety in the construction. Strategies that are part of Eiffage Energía’s commitment to sustainability, with ecological transition being a cornerstone, together with innovation and the digital transition. In this regard, the recent creation of a dedicated department of Sustainability and Transversal Innovation merits attention. This area was created in line with the Eiffage Group’s strategic vision, which places the shift towards a low-carbon model at the heart of its business.
