Training for firefighters. Our colleague Pedro Molina Sánchez, Production Manager of the O&M Department of Renewable Energies and High Voltage Substations, recently gave a training talk at the Albacete Fire Station. This is a two-hour theoretical training course on photovoltaic solar energy focused on the emergencies that firefighters may face.
Principles of operation of solar photovoltaic plants
Among the topics covered were the principles of operation of solar photovoltaic plants. Here, Molina emphasized the specifics of this generation system that affect them in the event of a fire. During the talk, our colleague clarified firefighters’ doubts about the special characteristics of the different elements that make up a solar plant. Characteristics that pose different types of risks in the jobs they perform. Firefighters also had the opportunity to share real experiences in the sector, as well as to learn about the possible actions and extinguishing methods to be used in each situation. To conclude this training, they went on a tour of three of our customers’ plants in Albacete, where they learned about the reality of solar plants. Thus, firefighters learned to recognize the different elements and how to act in relation to the electrical risk in a possible emergency in this type of facility.
Training actions in emergency situations
The aim of this training is to train first responders to act in emergency situations. They usually contain a theoretical part, the programme of which is as follows: -Identification and functions of the Emergency Teams. -Emergency Situations and their typification. -The Emergency Action Plan. Objectives and Evacuation. -Organisation of human resources for emergency response. -Basic fire prevention standards. -Fire response. -Fire Extinction: -Nature of fire – Development of fire – Types of fire – Spread – Methods of extinction: Fire extinguishers, Fire hydrants, Dry pipe, Hydrants and Sprinklers. And a theoretical and practical part, where they are trained in the use and handling of powder and CO2 extinguishers; and in the use and handling of fire hydrants.
Other training courses
Other types of training on emergency situations, aimed at both firefighters and health personnel, include compliance with the basic rules of self-protection in emergency situations (fire extinguishing). These actions include training in first aid knowledge; appropriate immediate and temporary care; how to deal with the types of injuries that occur most frequently in the workplace, etc. https://youtu.be/TGrMKxdkzXs
