Student dormitory. The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a student dormitory in Seville took place today. A project developed by Urbania, led by our construction subsidiary, Concytec, in a joint venture with DBD Ingeniería. Urbania will invest over 15 million euros in the construction of the 6,150-square-meter property. It will have 220 single rooms and open its doors in 2022. The project will be located between Avenida de la Palmera and Heliópolis, one of the nicest residential areas of Seville, very close to the Reina Mercedes campus. The award-winning architectural firm Buró4 has designed the building, while our subsidiary Conscytec will carry out the construction work.
Sustainable project
It is a building with a basement, ground floor and three storeys, which will stand out for its sustainability, with an A+ energy rating and a low-carbon solution. A new project that bears the Conscytec seal, through the industrial production of the structure. In this case, a concrete structure has been designed up to the ceiling of the first floor and a metal structure up to the roof. The lavatories will be prefabricated in the workshop and arrive on site as completely finished modules, needing only to be put in place and connected to the networks. Our partner for the prefabrication of the lavatories is The Prototipo Company, which also belongs to the Urbania International group.
Industrialisation, sustainability and the circular economy
Asensio Rodriguez, director of Conscytec, emphasized that “industrialization, sustainability and the circular economy are elements that should define the standards, not of the construction of the future but of the current one. The new residence will be an innovative and iconic space, due to the concept proposed by Urbania and the way in which it will be built”. Urbania will manage the new property through its Bcome brand, an asset management firm specialising in student housing. “Our dormitories are designed and managed for the purpose of generating community. With this dormitory, we want students to be able to experience Seville, enjoy its cultural wealth and increase their network of contacts in an environment that fosters study, leisure, physical and mental well-being, growth as professionals and development as individuals. Thanks to this, we aspire to become a benchmark in the city, encouraging national and international students to study in Seville”, said Jeffrey Sújar, Managing Partner of Alternative Assets at Urbania. Urbania has developed dormitories and student housing in Madrid, Valencia and Pamplona, with active projects in Malaga, Salamanca, Barcelona and Porto that will add more than 2,000 beds to its portfolio.
