Eiffage Energía strengthens its commitment to the Spanish Network of the United Nations Global Compact, of which it has been a member since 2010. The mission of this compact is to generate an international movement of sustainable businesses to create the world we want.
Of the more than 1,590 Spanish member companies, more than 690 are members of the Spanish Global Compact Network. This indicates a higher level of commitment in participating in the initiative and enjoying its services.
Eiffage Energía’s increased commitment
This greater commitment to the initiative translates into greater involvement on our part in the operation of the Local Network (general assembly, governing bodies, speakers at activities, success stories) and in the enjoyment of a series of services related to sustainable management. At this link you can consult our membership information and learn about our progress in sustainability.
Our CEO, José Manuel Martínez, emphasizes that at Eiffage Energía “we comply with several of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations”. To identify the SDGs corresponding to the CSR approach, we have analysed the 17 SDGs and their targets to determine precisely which of these and, therefore, which SDGs we are contributing to, either because they are directly linked to the strategy or because they are achieved through major projects. As a result of this process, the most relevant SDGs for Eiffage Energía have been classified: 6. clean water and sanitation; 7. affordable and non-polluting energy; 9. industry, innovation and infrastructure; 11. sustainable cities and communities; 12. responsible production and consumption; and 13. climate action. And, on the other hand, indirectly with -5. gender equality; 8. decent work and economic growth; 10. reduction of inequalities; 15. life of terrestrial ecosystems16. peace, justice and solid institutions. Eiffage Energía’s objective is an overall reduction in emissions across the value chain. Our unique solutions must help our clients reduce their own emissionsas much as possible, in line with our strategy and values. Our low-carbon strategy is organised around two main objectives: on the one hand, the reduction of internal emissions in all the Group’s businesses ; and, on the other, the development of new low-carbon offers or the generalisation of those already offered by the various branches of activity.
United Nations Global Compact
The United Nations Global Compact is a call to companies and organisations to align their strategies and operations with Ten Universal Principles on human rights; labour standards; environment; and anti-corruption. It is mandated by the UN to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the private sector. It also has an unparalleled ability to bring together companies with other players working to promote sustainable development: governments, civil society, and the United Nations.
Red Española
Since its creation, Red Española has been one of the first national platforms of the Global Compact and the local network with the largest number of signatories. Its management model and organisational structure are among the most advanced in the Global Compact. In addition, it is an outstanding local network for the type of activities and tools created to promote the implementation of the Ten Principles of the Global Compact; as well as to raise awareness of the private sector to contribute to the UN goals. Its fundamental purpose is to transform the business sector into a more responsible one. A sector in which sustainable organisations are the majority trend and the Ten Principles are generalised as the basis for the management of our country’s entities.
