O’Donnell Park. Eiffage Energía has performed a full refurbishment of the “Casita del Parque O’Donnell” in the Madrid district of Alcalá de Henares. This building is around 120 years old and is found in O’Donnell Park.
The building was originally used as a greenhouse and, before the work, was being used for gardening tool storage. Eiffage Energía’s work revolved around the renovation and refurbishment of the building to give it a new lease of life as an activities room.
The building underwent comprehensive work: structural intervention; interior partitioning; outside walls; carpentry and finishes; as well as new plumbing, sanitation, electrical, telecommunication, air conditioning and ventilation installations.
The historical façade was also refurbished to restore its decorative elements, repairing the bare brick by removing some of the pieces, replacing them with similar pieces and repointing with plaster. Specific materials were used for this part of the refurbishment to ensure a fitting reconstruction of this piece of historical heritage.
O’Donnell Park, part of the history of Alcalá de Henares
O’Donnell Park is much more than just a green space in the city, it is part of the history of Alcalá de Henares.
A site of cultural interest that now puts new infrastructure at the service of the public thanks to the opening of the Casita del O’Donnell.
It is a new piece of infrastructure where all kinds of cultural and educational events can be held, with the aim of making the most emblematic park in Alcalá de Henares more accessible to all residents and continuing to promote environmental education initiatives.
The space was historically closed to the public, as it housed the plant nursery. With its refurbishment, a new multifunctional space of the municipal heritage has been made available to the citizens, open to all residents of Alcalá de Henares, associations and local entities. It also serves as a venue for activities organised by the local government.
