Regional Environmental Awards. Eiffage Energía has been recognized at the Regional Environmental Awards given by the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha, for our contribution to sustainable development.
The award ceremony took place yesterday at the ‘Eduardo Guitián’ Centre in Guadalajara, presided over by the Councillor for Sustainable Development, José Luis Escudero.
Specifically, the regional government has given us this award for our role in the development of local energy communities within industrial environments. With this initiative, we seek to make them smart, sustainable, and self-efficient in terms of energy. This is the first step towards decarbonisation and energy independence.
In this regard, it should be noted that Eiffage Energía is making very active progress, as a major player in the field of energy communities of different natures and characteristics.
Sustainable Industrial Areas
We are currently working with a model for the development of Smart and Sustainable Industrial Areas. A model based on the concept of a local energy community within the industrial environment. And we are working with this model in all of our areas of activity: renewable energy; energy efficiency; sustainable mobility and the circular economy. With a multidisciplinary approach and with all our capabilities.
In this context, Eiffage Energia supports the development of the Energy Community and assists in the definition of the governance plan. We execute it by analysing technical, regulatory and financing opportunities and constraints. By doing this and working alongside future partners, we create the most appropriate model for achieving their objectives.
What is an energy community?
An energy community is a new model for the generation, use and management of energy at a local level. A model that works through cooperation between agents; and that contributes to creating a decentralised, fair, efficient and collaborative energy system, as it is based on the active participation of the users themselves.
The project’s approach follows the methodology of a logical framework, through a continuous improvement process. The model is based on the REDUCE > OPTIMISE > DECARBONISE strategy. A mechanism to aid the energy transition from a systematic point of view.
The solutions in the areas of activity listed above are implemented by prioritising the creation of greater benefits for the community and facilitating joint decision-making.
