In a joint venture with TELICE, Eiffage Energa Sistemas will renovate the lighting of the Madrid-Seville AVE high-speed train tunnels

We have just signed a contract with Adif to renew, in a joint venture with TELICE, the lighting in the 16-kilometre-long tunnels of the Madrid-Seville AVE high-speed train line.

The contract intends to install a new LED lighting system in these tunnels. Adif Alta Velocidad has awarded the contract for 6,679,841 euros and this technology will be installed in the 17 tunnels of the Seville-Madrid high-speed line. The longest of these 17 tunnels is 2.54 kilometres.

Ave Madrid-Seville: Spain’s first high-speed railway

This line was opened in 1992. It was the first high-speed line in Spain. It serves as a backbone for travel between the regions of Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, and Andalusia.

The line is 471 km long and has 5 passenger stations: Madrid Puerta de Atocha; Ciudad Real; Puertollano; Cordoba; and Seville Santa Justa.

LED technology is more reliable and energy efficient. It meets the requirements for Energy Efficiency in Lighting Installations, Interoperability Technical Specifications (ETI in Spanish), and Adif Protection and Safety Standards (NAPS in Spanish).

Other TELICE projects for ADIF

It should be recalled that  in 2019 ADIF also awarded us, in a joint venture with TELICE, a contract for the works and maintenance of the energy autotransformer and remote control centres for the Pedralba-Orense section of the  AVE Madrid-Galicia high speed line.

The work consisted of the construction of a number of

autotransformer stations for the catenary power supply system. The successful completion of this project led to a subsequent contract with ADIF, also in a joint venture with TELICE, for the project to modernise the railway line between Ourense and Lugo in order to connect Lugo to the high-speed rail network.

In this case, we were responsible for constructing an electrical substation in Oural, two final transformer stations, and eight intermediate auto-transformer stations at different points along the route between Ourense and Lugo.
