In an endeavour to refine our inspection processes and ensure the safety of these activities, at Eiffage Energía Sistemas we have adopted drone technology for the efficient and accurate inspection of material containers.
Drones have enabled us to conduct thorough inspections of aluminium containers storing PET, offering an internal perspective. This method provides a more comprehensive and precise understanding of their condition, thereby reducing the risks associated with these inspections.
PET containers are 26-metre high aluminium tanks that hold Polyethylene Terephthalate, a type of plastic commonly used in food packaging. Their primary function is to supply the material to the recycling plant.
Reduced risks
This technology has allowed us to swiftly and effectively identify potential flaws or damages in the containers. This ensures that work processes can proceed risk-free.
Moreover, deploying drones has not only enhanced the efficiency of our inspection operations but also lessened the risks to our personnel by minimising the need for manual inspections in potentially hazardous areas.
We are excited about continuing to explore innovative technologies to incorporate into our operations, aiming to improve quality and efficiency across all facets of our business.
Implementation of this technology
We have already implemented this technology for checking the status of high-voltage line components; for solar farm inspections using thermal imaging cameras; for wind turbine inspections with 200x zoom cameras; for verifying safety distances between high-voltage lines and vegetation, buildings, or other elements using LiDAR; for topography and flood risk assessments for new plant constructions; and for monitoring the progress of ongoing construction projects to observe their development.
Further applications of drone technology include occupational risk prevention, and compliance with regulations and internal procedures.
Partnership agreements
We have put in place partnership agreements with the Institute for Regional Development of Castilla-La Mancha on the topic of remote sensing; with the Garcia Tellez secondary school for drones, and with the Aguas Nuevas Integral Vocational Training Centre for incorporating new talent in the field of drones.
Offering such technology allows our clients to benefit from cutting-edge services. It enhances client quality, sets us apart from competitors, and allows us to develop new procedures that facilitate our growth on the market.
