Sonnedix, a leading renewable energy producer boasting over 3 GW of operational capacity, has signed its inaugural Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) Framework Agreement with Eiffage, one of Europe’s foremost construction and concessions companies, through its subsidiary, Eiffage Energía Sistemas.
Under this framework agreement, the construction activities for Sonnedix’s project portfolio in Spain, Italy, and Portugal will proceed under standardised general conditions, applicable to all future EPC contracts with Eiffage Energía Sistemas. Sonnedix currently has 858 MW of renewable energy projects under construction and an additional development portfolio of 1.72 GW across these markets.
This Framework Agreement, encompassing legal, technical, and commercial terms and conditions, will enable Sonnedix to operate more dynamically and efficiently. Sonnedix will streamline and enhance its portfolio growth and conversion by minimising the time and resources spent on negotiating separate EPC agreements, traditionally taking two to three months to conclude.
A significant achievement for Eiffage Energía Sistemas
The CEO of Eiffage Energia Sistemas, José Manuel Martínez, highlighted that “this deal with a global leader in renewable energies marks a significant achievement for Eiffage Energía Sistemas. It underscores our position as one of the top global EPC firms and a leading player in Spain’s renewable sector”.
In the same vein, Daniel Garrido, Director of the International and Renewables Department at Eiffage Energía Sistemas, noted that “Eiffage Energía Sistemas’ expertise and technical acumen have been crucial in successfully building a 300 MW portfolio with Sonnedix in Spain. This agreement exemplifies the collaboration between our companies and our shared commitment to the energy transition.”
Eiffage Energía Sistemas, a trusted EPC contractor
Jorge Amiano, Sonnedix’s Global Director of Engineering and Construction, remarked, “This pioneering agreement, a first of its kind, will significantly reduce our negotiation efforts, allowing Sonnedix to expedite the construction of our project portfolio in Southern Europe. While supply chain framework agreements are common, EPC contracts are usually drawn up on a project-by-project basis. By streamlining this process, Sonnedix ensures reliability and certainty while enhancing competitiveness”.
Similarly, Sonnedix’s CEO, Axel Thiemann, stated, “this innovative venture will enable us to partner with a trusted EPC contractor to help us transform our extensive renewable energy project portfolio. Eiffage has a strong track record in our key markets of Spain, Italy, and Portugal, and is precisely the kind of firm we aim to establish long-term partnerships with”.
