The Eiffage Group, which has just celebrated its 30th anniversary, has published its 2023 Sustainability Report, highlighting the significant growth of Eiffage Energía Sistemas over the past decade.
In the section on the Group’s Know-how at a European level, the report emphasizes the Energy Systems branch in Spain, which has experienced exceptional growth over the last 10 years.
Eiffage Energía Sistemas has thus positioned itself as the leading turnkey photovoltaic plant installer in Europe and the third-largest player globally in terms of installed rated capacity. Our expertise shines worldwide, particularly in Latin America. We also operate in all other energy and systems sectors and aim to strengthen our presence in the industrial market with a new offering.
“Together, for a Low-Carbon Europe”
Under the title “Together, for a Low-Carbon Europe”, Eiffage, as one of the European leaders in construction and concessions, underscores its ambition to actively contribute to building a more sustainable and energy-independent Europe. The report highlights that “our greatest asset lies in the passion and commitment of our 78,200 employees, mobilized to support their clients in the ecological and digital transition every day. The more than 100,000 projects we undertake each year are concrete proof of this commitment”.
Committed and proud staff
In this context, the report includes testimonies from several employees, including our International Director of Renewable Energies at Eiffage Energía Sistemas, Daniel Garrido. “I remember the day I approached my manager to tell him that renewable energies were the future of the Group and that we needed to develop a specialized department. Today, I am proud of the work we have done because we are leaders in the sector and recognized for our technological expertise and the quality of our work. In 20 years, we have become a reference company in the field of photovoltaics and contribute to the success of large-scale projects worldwide”, says Garrido.
Shareholding
Amid the TIM24 campaign, the report also emphasizes that, for over 30 years, Eiffage employees have had the opportunity to become shareholders in the Group. This virtuous system, with employee participation, is a pillar of shared value. The broad support generated makes employee shareholders collectively, through the Group’s savings plan, the largest shareholder of Eiffage, with 20% of the capital. Promoting professional integration; ensuring the health and safety of our employees; and embracing diversity as a driver of performance are other key principles highlighted in the report.
High level of activity
According to Benoît de Ruffray, President and CEO of Eiffage, “2024 will continue to feature a high level of activity for Eiffage.”
He explains that last year was characterised by strong growth in our activities, both in construction and concessions, and there was also a clear improvement in our profitability. “But what I remember most is the exceptional visibility it gives us for the years to come,” he notes.
Low carbon strategy
Committed for over 15 years to an ecological transition process, Eiffage defined a low-carbon strategy for all its companies in France and internationally in 2016, structured around two imperatives highlighted in the report: reducing internal emissions and developing low-carbon offers.
A strategy that needs to encompass all constraints. Therefore, we have formalised a circular economy strategy that leads us to integrate solutions into our activities capable of relieving pressure on natural resources and land.
Similarly, Eiffage has a great ambition through its biodiversity strategy. Complementary to the circular economy and low-carbon strategies, it is part of a sustainable and long-term approach.
Construction
Becoming a leader in low-carbon construction, offering solutions designed by Eiffage Construction, and striving for operational excellence is another objective of Eiffage. We aim to position ourselves in large-scale or increasingly complex projects, where our capacity for innovation and low-carbon approach are assets that set us apart.
Renewable energy
In the Renewable Energy section, Eiffage’s Sustainability Report highlights the El Cuco photovoltaic plant, which we are building through Eiffage Energía Sistemas in Albacete, in Montealegre del Castillo. This plant will have a capacity of 42.3 MWp and will provide clean energy equivalent to powering 19,500 homes annually once operational.
To minimise the impact on nature, we will implement a crop diversification and rotation plan, install a vegetative screen to better integrate the plant into its surroundings, and create a protected area of 72 hectares to preserve bird habitats and promote their development.
