Eiffage Energía Sistemas has installed a photovoltaic park consisting of 728 panels at the headquarters of CMMedia, the regional public broadcaster, in Toledo.
This initiative will enhance the energy efficiency of the CMMedia building by enabling it to generate its own electricity. Solar energy is renewable, unlimited, and clean, posing no threat to global warming and contributing to sustainable development by reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide emissions.
2,256 square metres
A total area of 2,256 square meters has been allocated, utilizing the metal structure of the parking canopies to install the photovoltaic solar modules. This approach eliminates the need for additional space.
Each of the 728 panels has a capacity of 660Wp (watts peak). This will allow a peak power of almost 0.5 megawatts. The peak production of the panels coincides with the highest activity of the public broadcaster during the day.
Energy efficiency
The installation can generate up to 70% of the total electricity consumption at times of peak energy demand, depending on sunlight hours.
This will result in an estimated 12% annual savings on Castilla-La Mancha Media’s electricity bill. The reduction in electricity costs and dependence on the public grid, along with protection against fuel price volatility, makes the investment worthwhile.
By doing so, Castilla-La Mancha’s public broadcaster complies with the European Parliament’s criteria regarding the energy efficiency of buildings.
