Finally, the precarious situation of Requejada reservoir, built in 1940 in the district of Cervera de Pisuerga, Palencia, will have the solution it deserves. The deficient conditions currently affecting the dam, leading to frequent outages owing to breakdowns and, therefore, the consequent incidents on telephone lines and internet connections, have been a cause for concern among the authorities and inhabitants of the adjoining districts and constitute a serious breach of the Technical Safety Regulations of Dams and Reservoirs, thus requiring urgent solutions.
Managed by the Duero Hydrographic Confederation, the reservoir will be intervened by Eiffage Energía to improve the electrical and fibre optic installations with works that have an estimated lead time of five months, beginning in early September at the reservoir located in the hills of Palencia.
With a budget of € 469,603.21, Eiffage Energía will implement a project involving an underground Medium-Voltage line, a fibre optic communications line (ensuring the correct connection of adjacent districts) along with the transformer centre for supplying the facilities, all focused on improving the power supply service in the area and complying with the prevailing legislation for this type of construction.
The option of installing an underground Medium-Voltage line, instead of laying High Voltage lines across the landscape, responds to the desire to minimise the impact on the local wildlife. The project also features transformer huts that blend into the landscape to soften their visual impact, which again demonstrates our commitment to the environment and reinforces the values of Eiffage Energía with regard to its Quality and Environmental policies .
