More than 2,000 people of Cuenca will benefit from the construction of Waste Water Treatment Plants

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has given the go ahead to the construction project for Waste Water Treatment Plants in the municipalities of Sisante, Casas de Benítez and Pozoamargo in Cuenca, which will provide a total of 2918 inhabitants with the best service with the latest technologies in the treatment and purification of waste water for discharge into the river in optimal conditions, according to the current regulations in Spain and Europe. The works will be completed in June 2018.

These works were contracted in July 2009 by the Infraestructuras del Agua de Castilla-La Mancha (Water Infrastructure Agency) with a budget of around 9.5 million euros and were put on hold in September 2010, due to the need for approval of a modified technical execution of the project, which has recently been approved by the Consejería de Fomento de Castilla-La Mancha (Ministry of Public Works of Castilla-La Mancha).

The works, which will be completed in June 2018, will take place over a period of 20 months through the Joint Venture Company formed by Eiffage Energía and two other companies. Besides the 3 treatment plants, 13,000 metres of waste water pipes collecting waste water from the towns of Sisante, Casas de Benítez and Pozoamargo as well as discharge pipes for treated water will be implemented.
