Eiffage Energía Mexico is executing the construction work on the San Pedro Wind Farm, which is being developed by Elawan, in Huimilpan, in the state of Querétaro. It is a project consisting of 15 2MW wind turbines for total power of 30MW, a booster station, line and shunting substation for interconnection to the CFE line. The complex will generate renewable energy for more than 20,000 homes in the region and has created more than 400 direct jobs and 800 indirect jobs, prioritising local families.
Significant potential for development of renewable energy projects
On a recent visit, Francisco Domínguez Servién, the state’s governor, said that “Querétaro’s goal for the coming years is to become a leader in the decarbonization of energy in the region”. In this regard, he explained that “from the co-chair of the #Under2Coalition we have the firm commitment to work on a global strategy with more than 200 governments around the world.” The state of Querétaro has a significant potential for the development of renewable energy projects thanks to its wind and solar resources. In addition to the conditions of strong energy demand after years of high economic and population growth. The San Pedro wind farm is the first to be built in the state of Querétaro. Our client Elawan takes special care of the environment where it is located and is contemplating the reforestation of 40 hectares.
