Occupational safety. Achieving zero risk is one of our Occupational Risk Prevention goals. The excellent accident rate figures we are achieving underscore this commitment. From 2015 to November 2021, we have managed to reduce the number of accidents involving medical leave by 60.30%, the total accident rate by 38.57% and the severity rate by 73.77%. In terms of performing prevention-related tasks, it has been possible to increase the total number of inspections by 115.96% between 2016 and today. And the number of good practices submitted has increased by 126.19% since 2019. And this is because we have a programme where we reward excellent behaviour, from an occupational health and safety perspective we reward those workers who are most exposed to risk.
Occupational safety
All of the company’s different managers, who have the duty of conducting health and safety inspections of their production units, are involved in performing exhaustive inspections. Therefore, the safest behaviours are rewarded and the conduct of workers or groups that do not meet the requirements for excellence is corrected. The aim of these awards is to recognise the collective efforts of Eiffage Energía’s team of human resources in terms of compliance with safety measures and reductions in local and, therefore, national accident rates.
New occupational safety platforms
During 2021, we consolidated the implementation of the E-COORDINA platform. This is a tool that aims to streamline, simplify and control the management of documents generated by the coordination of business activities. The EASY platform has also been implemented. This tool is designed for carrying out safety inspections, as well as for subsequently dealing with any anomalies detected during such inspections. It is now fully implemented in one department of the company with approximately 1,000 employees. It is being introduced in all other departments. In addition, the ECOIURISwork platform, shared by the Quality, Environment and Prevention systems, has been implemented. It is designed to determine evidence, for the purpose of gaining access to, and identifying the legal requirements that Eiffage Energía needs to apply to occupational health and safety.
Information resources
In order to strengthen concepts relating to safety and the use of personal protective equipment, fan-shaped information resources are distributed to all the company’s employees. These resources cover normal working situations and the PPE to be used in each of them. As part of the actions to distribute information on occupational risk prevention at Eiffage Energía, awareness-raising and motivational posters are also distributed to all branches/areas. As a new feature, this year we have introduced the recording of videos of workers who have suffered an accident with sick leave, with their prior consent, to be uploaded to the company’s YouTube channel. The aim is to explain how the accident happened and how it could have been avoided so that Eiffage Energía employees can identify themselves with the information as they go about their daily work/tasks. This gives them a better understanding of the preventive measures for the risks to which they are exposed during their day-to-day work.
New line of health and well-being work in the company
As part of Eiffage Energía’s commitment to its employees, it is concerned about actively and continuously improving their health. To achieve this, during the course of 2021 work began on a new line of health and well-being work in the company and five work areas were developed. The aim is to continuously and systematically implement a series of actions, each based around a theme. These lines of work are as follows: -Healthy eating. -Health promotion. -Psychosocial well-being. -Physical well-being. -Promotion of sport.
Safety Week 2021
The 2021 Safety Week revolved around the creation of working groups to give training talks on a single subject: “Our potentially serious accidents”. These talks were given by the Eiffage Energía chains of command, with support and supervision from the prevention department. The talks aimed to raise awareness and train all company employees on the importance of identifying and analysing risks involved in preparing the workplace and performing their tasks. In order to improve the management of personal protective equipment and its suppliers, an PPE catalogue was effectively implemented throughout the organisation. This document unifies the PPE and avoids the purchase of equipment that is unsuitable or does not meet the applicable regulations. At Eiffage Energía, we will continue with the measures taken in response to the social and health situation caused by SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19). The aim is to improve the following actions in order to tackle possible infections in the workplace. These measures include the distribution of alcohol-based hand cleaning gels at all Eiffage Energía work centres; the distribution of reusable hygienic masks to all employees; the implementation of testing among possible close contacts in the workplace; and drafting preventive action guidelines related to Covid-19 in the Eiffage Energía Group’s production activities.
